First Day of School

Today was a big day for the girls, and for me! Both of the girls started school today and I was hip hoppin' boppin' all the way down the road y'all! Oh I was. Ashton will go to school on Mondays and Lexi will go on Mon/Wed/Fri from 9:00-12:30. I am happy to report that Lexi LOVES school. She is going to have the best year. Her teacher is very nurturing, but yet fun and animated, and she says her specialty is getting shy kids to come out of their shells. How fitting! There are only 6 children in the class and they're all girls. Sweet little girls. When Lexi got home, she hugged me and said, "I Love you mommy and I love my new school!" Ashton, on the other hand, it's a good thing she's cute! I know I say that often. But it's true y'all. It's so true. Her teacher's response when I picked her up was, "I had to watch her hands but she had a good day. She was good." Okay, what exactly does that mean? My OCD kicked into high gear and I don't know if I'll sleep tonight wondering what that comment meant. It could mean a whole number of things...was she hitting or pinching or pulling hair (all of which are regular events at home), was she into everything, was she stealing toys, was she touching her privates when they changed her diapers, did she get the finger paint everywhere, ???? Who knows! But in her class there are only 2 girls and the rest are boys. She should fit in perfectly. She can definitely hold her own. I have no concerns about her (except for how long it will be before she visits the principal's office!)

So, you ask, what did I do with my 3 1/2 hours of freedom? Cary and I went to breakfast at a local restaurant for a "celebratory first day of school breakfast". And there were so many other parents in there from our school doing the exact same thing! We all got a big kick outta that. Then he said, "I feel like newly weds. Let's go home and hop in the sack." And I said, "YES...so we can SLEEP! Good idea honey!" But we didn't. I went to work with him and helped him get organized and be efficient. And that's all. The time flew by. But it was fun. I'm counting down the hours till next Monday. I took pictures of the girls going to school. And you gotta love technology. Can't get them posted tonight for some reason. Technology...can't live with it...can't live without it. I'll try again tomorrow.

Can't wait to see pictures. I have already been thinking...this is the last year ours will stay at the hospital preschool. Next fall, they will go to a church prek and preschool two days a week. I am going to have to change my shifts I work at the hospital, but I am looking forward to that. Anyway, I have already figured out I will have time to do some stuff when they are in school.

I really like y'all's breakfast idea!

did you ever find out what they meant by watching her hands?
